| The MISSION of the Adler Graduate School is to
provide Adlerian and non-Adlerian instruction to
train professional counselors and therapists to be
practitioners focused on achieving a balance between
self and social interest, and to facilitate healthier life
styles among the people, organizations and
communities they serve. Promoting social interest in
others through cooperation and collaboration allows
individuals to add value to their lives in work,
community, relationships, and individual health. |
“Part of our commitment to “systems change” is working with graduate students in the fields of social work and counseling/psychology. The Adler Institute has been partnering with the Domestic Abuse Project for years to provide hands-on work in the area of domestic abuse. Due to our ever present financial constraints, interns serve as critical participants in providing a great number of services across the board. We are thankful for the opportunity to work with Adler and its students to enhance our work and the field.”
Carol Arthur, Executive Director, Domestic Abuse Project

“We are extremely pleased with the quality of Adler students in terms of their experience and education – we find that they perform well in our setting. We so thoroughly respect the quality of the Adler students that we have actually hired some to work with us after their internship was complete!”
Judy Halper, Jewish Children and Family Services.

“Adler’s Interns are a critical community resource for Perspectives’ clientele of families and children. Their creative and cognitive approach with at-risk families is a perfect fit with Perspectives’ mission: Breaking Cycles and Creating Hope. Over the decades, their tremendous contribution to our community has and continues to fill a major service gap . AGS is such a tremendous resource in helping our families reenter social and economic mainstream .”
Jeannie Seeley-Smith, Executive Director/CEO, Perspectives, Inc. |

“Adler students bring a unique perspective on community work, focusing on family and social systems that can support or hinder a person's ability to function in everyday life. Without the dedicated work of psychology interns, we would be unable to provide as ready access to highly trained, highly motivated, caring counselors, every hour of every day. Nor would we have the exposure which we value to the latest in Adlerian psychology thinking and practices. AGS is a unique and valued resource in the community.”

“Genesis II has also provided me with experience in working with various social services in the Twin Cities area and helped me learn about many resources. The greatest benefit I have received, however, is a huge increase in my confidence as a clinician. Genesis II has given me the opportunity to contribute my skills and abilities in a positive way to people who are in need of support, education, and empathy.”
Jean Ladwig, Adler student and intern with Genesis II for Families, Inc. |
“Adler interns work with some of the highest risk youth in Ramsey County through the All Children Excel (ACE) alumni program. Without the contribution of Adler interns, we would not be able to continue offering ongoing support and counseling to our ACE alumni.”

“The Mental Health Programs of the Neighborhood Involvement Program (N.I.P.) have maintained a wonderful working relationship with the Adler Graduate School (AGS). The AGS students have contributed to the high level of clinical services available to uninsured/underinsured clients who otherwise would not have access to psychotherapy. The students have also added richness to N.I.P.’s graduate training program through the unique perspectives they bring in the form of Alfred Adler’s therapeutic approaches. The faculty of AGS have always worked closely with the N.I.P. clinical supervisors toward a mutual goal: to train, guide and supervise the next generation of (psycho) therapists.
The Neighborhood Involvement Program’s mental health programs look forward to a continued partnership with the Adler Graduate School.”
